This decade was dominated by a three year period at Bible College of Victoria. This for me was a life-changing period.
In the time before BCV, we forged many friendships with people at Ulverstone Baptist Church. At the time I was working at the Edgell-Birdseye potato processing facility in Ulverstone. And afterwards some rich friendships formed at Penguin Baptist Church. It was at this time that, professionally, I started on a journey that would eventually lead me to a career in research, particularly in vocational learning. In this period, my Mum and Dad lived in Launceston and my brother and sister-in-law and their two daughters Christina (b. 1990) and Susie (b. 1992) lived in Hobart.

Towards the end of this period as my relationship to Anne-Marie sadly began to disintegrate, my identity as a dad emerged strongly as I discovered that I could be a good parent to my three kids. By 2000, Anna-Feliz, Isabelle and Simeon became my reason for being as I struggled to come to grips with the grief of separation. But as they say, life begins at 40 and it surely did for me!
